Making a Difference

Since 1986

Our History

From a gathering of 6 friends in a suburban Chicago home to a thriving organization serving 4 million people annually, the national DBSA Alliance Group has seen tremendous growth in its first 35 years. The national organization began multiplying chapters across the nation, eventually opening a chapter in California. DBSA-California was established in 1990 and reincorporated in 2019.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower people with mood disorders to find community, wellness, and hope while also navigating the challenges of co-occurring mental health conditions.

Our Vision

The vision of DBSA California is that all those with mood disorders and other mental health challenges have access to peer support and other needed treatment to reduce isolation and suicidal behaviors. Those who are self-motivated towards recovery have extended periods of wellness. Our support groups generate positive outcomes for the people we reach who struggle with mental illness by preventing consistent crisis situations through education and early intervention.
